WATCH CARE

The Watch CARE Ministry is intended to provide Christian support for college students who are matriculating at one of the area’s educational institutions. It provides students with a Christian church family that will provide Christian growth and maturity throughout their collegiate career and provide cherished memories for a lifetime.

Our watch care students participate in our worship service, youth outings, and peer counseling sessions.  In many cases, the students are an integral part of the ministry and provide gifts, talents and graces that enhance our worship. So, if you re a student at one of our local colleges and universities, or a parent looking for a church to aid in your child’s spiritual awareness while in the Daytona Beach community, we invite you to become a part of our Watch Care Ministry!

My experience at Mount Zion was very welcoming and gave me the same family environment that reminded me of my home church. Although I was only under the watch care program for a few months before I graduated from BCU, the members made me feel like I've been a part of the church for a lot longer. As soon as I joined the church they identified ways for me to become more involved. They stayed in touch with me throughout the week, provided any help or guidance they could possibly give, and continues to stay in touch with me after graduating. Overall, Mount Zion is a great church to join with wonderful church members who will truly look out for you and help you in any way they possibly can."

"The pastor and members of Mount Zion AME Church has been a blessing to me. Joining their watch care program is a decision that I will never regret. Their sincerity and love encouraged me while attending Bethune-Cookman University and continues to do so since graduating. I felt at home and welcome the moment I entered the church. I admire the members' work ethic to meet the needs of the community. They have truly been an inspiration."

"The Watch Care program was truly a blessing to me. When I first attended Mount Zion A.M.E. I loved my first service and decided to join. I had a specific guardian in Bro. Broxton, but the majority of the church took me under their wings and spreaded love to me too that very day. In a time of need they were there. Even when I didn’t need anything they were still there. I was taken care of as if i was one of everyone’s own children, I’m truly grateful for the love and mercy they showed me throughout all of my seasons. Mount Zion is easily my extended family. I will continue to cherish and love them and also continue to keep them apart of my life's journey."

"Being a part of  Mt.Zion AME Church’s Watch Care program was a great experience. It gave me the opportunity to grow closer to God. It helped my spiritual journey tremendously by providing a church home while I was away from home at school. It provided me space to interact  with the community through service. Mt. Zion AME Church’s Watch Care program is a great experience and I would recommend it to any student in need of a church home."
